I am turning 20 years young this weekend.. it’s a new decade for me..and I plan on achieving a lot in the next 10 years.

I have decided to pick up better habits, like working out at least 4 times a week. I have grown up a lot this year and just recently I learned that I get to decide. ME, MYSELF, & I. It’s my life. I want to be happy. I want to be proud of who I am and what I do. So this is the beginning. Because I said so. This is where I am starting, and I am not going to stop.

Last night in class we got to listen to the head track coach at CSC talk about how exercise causes higher levels of happiness. He seriously motivated me, not to join the track team but to take care of myself. That’s the only thing I was lacking too, motivation.

My dad has always told me, no one else is going to look out for you except you.

The track coach said we set HUGE goals for ourselves, because we will achieve the little one’s quicker and keep going to reach the big one…this is mine…

In my 20’s I hope to graduate from CSC with two bachelor degree’s, one in criminal justice and one in psychology, in the best shape of my life. Then I plan on transferring to a college that offers a master’s in psychology and finish that. I hope to meet a good man and get married. I hope to find a steady and secure career. And after all this is accomplished I want to take my grandma on a cruise to show my appreciation for her help with college. Then, I can turn 30.

I have high hopes for myself and big dreams that I will achieve. I refuse to settle.

Birthday, Birthday!!

March 18, 1993, that’s Bailey’s day.

Bailey is my best friend AND today she turns 21!!

You only turn 21 once and besides turning 18 it’s the MOST IMPORTANT Birthday. I honestly think I am more excited than she is.

I am going all out, I can’t bake her a cake but I will buy one. I made posters, and shot glasses, I got her the hang-over kit (mouthwash, advil, bandaid) and I got her a flask, honestly what more can you need for 21st birthday??

I blew up 20 balloons and am going to tape them all over her door, I should have gotten 21 but I didn’t check before I left the store, I guess I was too excited!!

She is an amazing person, sweet, kind, caring, blah blah blah lets be real she laughs at me when I fall, she is the meanest and nicest critic, she puts me in my place when I’m acting crazy and she is there for me all the way! I could not ask for a better best friend, and I am so lucky to have met her! We think just alike, sometimes I don’t have to say a word and she knows exactly what I’m thinking by my smiles haha. We have so much in common and that makes it a BLAST whenever we are together!!

it’s her birthday, which means mine is only 11 days away!!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY BAILEY!!!

Be Thankful, Constantly

I found this picture on google, I knew when I saw it this would make an awesome blog topic.

(I even saved it as “blogpost” haha)

I think, in a sense, this picture ties back to our discussion in class about the idea of money buying happiness. We talked about many ways that money can and cannot buy happiness.

After our discussion, even though I do understand both sides of the argument I still believe it doesn’t matter  how much money you have there will always be a want or need for more. I may be placing a stereotype but money makes people greedy.

I really liked this picture because it sort of reminds us that we need to stop being so narrow minded and focus on what’s really happening right now today and enjoy it, be thankful for it. Embrace the struggles of today.

I’ve been writing a lot of blogs lately that go back to the idea of embracing the moment, and again, I don’t know who I am trying to convince; you? or me?

I know how blessed I am, everyday I am thankful. And I try to show my appreciation and gratitude every time I get the opportunity.

I think if everyone showed their appreciation towards anyone and everyone our country would become a better place. Like the movie we watched in class about the survey of happiness in all different countries, it seemed like every country was genuinely more happy compared to the United States; and we are the most successful? And it also goes back to the quote “the best way to make yourself happy is to make others happy, the best way to make others happy is to be happy yourself”.. SO if we showed the people around us appreciation they would do the same, because IT’S NICE. It makes people giving appreciation feel happy and it makes the appreciated happy too.

Even though it’s cold out, even though you stayed up to late and you have to go to class, even though you have a million things to stress about, and a million more on your mind, be thankful because it could always be worse.

Be thankful for this cold and normal beautiful Wednesday!

Blogging on a Tuesday! 2/11/14

I was scrolling through my news feed, on Facebook like I do every morning. Its like reading the morning newspaper. I found this picture. I knew right away this would be my next blog.

What I want to know is why?

Why do we wait for friday? What makes this day so special? Because most people don’t have to work on saturday? OKAY, I get that. But if you’re not working what else are you doing? Cleaning? Cooking? If you’re not at work working you’re somewhere else working. Which in  my opinion is what life is about. That’s how it’s supposed to be. I am guilty of this too, wishing the week away, but for what?  Monday isn’t a bad day either, if anything it’s better than friday, it’s the start of a new week. Enjoy the stress Monday morning brings. One day you will be old and all your days will be the same, NOW that will suck.

Summer is my favorite season, as it is for a lot of people. But why do we wait all year for summer? Because the weather is warm? Because most don’t have school in the summer. Okay! Believe me I understand. But there is nothing wrong with winter or fall or spring, they are beautiful too! Everyone says the snow is so terrible, but my bet is we would miss it if it wasn’t around. PLUS, winter clothes are just as exciting and cute as tank tops and shorts. (:

I guess the point I am trying to make is that we don’t have to wait all our lives for happiness. Lets embrace the moments we are forced to face right now. We should stop wishing away what we have. Learn to love the moments we share right now. Everything is constantly changing, but I don’t have to remind anyone of that. I’ve heard many people complain about change, and many more wishing they could go back, and even more regretting ,that they didn’t take advantage of all the good that happened. We all live our lives so fast, if only we could slow down time, would you?

I am not at all trying to tell you how to live your life, if anything really, I am talking to myself. And today I am going to have a good day, I will embrace whatever it is that gets thrown my way today. In my short 19 years of  life, I’ve learned (and am still learning) life is a funny thing, all you can do is live it.

Happy Tuesday!!
